What is the origin of the name CARTESIUS?

The name CARTESIUS is the Latinization of the surname of René Descartes. It was chosen in honor of the philosopher, specifically in reference to his work Discourse on the Method. In it, the Cartesian Plane and Cartesian Dualism are presented, with the former being easily identified in the company’s logo. However, the second—the real reason for honoring the philosopher—is not as straightforward.

Dualism results from the interaction between mind and body. The first, the rational, is limited. The other, the passionate, is unlimited. The method aims to reconcile the limited and the unlimited, the body and the mind, the rational and the passionate. At CARTESIUS CAPITAL, we prioritize the mind and the scientific method to generate consistent returns, striving to balance our limitations (e.g., knowledge, technology, processing, time) with the abundant and growing flow of data and information currently
being generated worldwide.
